SIGGRAPH 2000　SPACE Prize
SIGGRAPH in 2000 presented the theme of “millennium milestone” for the contest. As you might know, “milestone” means a stone marker set up on a roadside to indicate the distance in miles from a given point, and implies a period or an end. That theme inspired me to imagine a sand clock and I used it to express the flow of the times by millennium. Drawing a horizontal line in the background, I tried to express the infinity of time. I received this prize when I was studying in the U.S., and this work became an impressive milestone for me. It was when a new function of “paint effect” was added to Maya, so I still remember that I was very excited to produce this work at that time.
