NICOGRAPH '97 DaiNippon Printing Prize
A now defunct NICOGRAPH ... I have an unforgettable memory about it. When I won the prize in my early 20s, I said impudently “To be honest, I wanted to win a prize for my animation work.” Then, one of the judges kindly said “How about playing it if you have the video tape with you?” I did not bring the video with me, and the judge reproved me and said “You have to bring your work with you in this case.” Mamoru Oshii, one of the judges for the contest, attended the award ceremony, and I felt sooooo embarrassed.

Hey creators! You always have to take along your work so you can show it whenever and wherever possible!!
